World Cup Of Hockey 2004 Pre-Play
Notes: My cutoff date for freezing all rosters was Friday morning 8/20/2004. I used the Playoff Sudden Death overtime rule for the entire tournament. Plus/Minus numbers for NHL players were edited to lessen the team effect associated with this statistic. I did not use Nabokov for Russia, as he seems to be a long shot. Bryzgalov played the best in the early games and that's why he got most of the starts in goal for Russia. The final game was unbelievable, with Brodeur getting pulled mid-way through the second period as Sweden took a 4-0 lead. Canada stormed back with three third-period goals. But Mats Sundin's two goals, including one in the third period, spoiled the night for the frantic crowd in Toronto (Sweden 5 and Canada 4).
